EXPERIENCE

I have taught composition for 22 years and reading for 10 years at various community colleges (American River College, Cosumnes River College, Mount San Antonio College, Bakersfield College, Hartnell, and here at MPC).

My other job is Mom; I've been at that for 27 years.

 Attention Online English 1A students:

The optional orientation meeting will be Monday, January 30, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., LTC  119.

While optional, it is highly recommended - especially for students unfamiliar with online classes or for those who like to hear a little about the course, rather than just read about it on the ilearn site.  I hope to see you there!

For now, my English 1A online course is invisible. I will make it visible the morning of January 29. Look for it then at http://ilearn.mpc.edu/.

Meanwhile, you can order the books:

Behrens    Writing and Reading Across the Curriculum 11th edition 2011 Longman              9780205727650

Lester      Writing Research Papers  14th edition 2012  Longman  9780205059331

Strunk       Elements of Style (Forward Angell) 4th edition 2000 AB 9780205309023

If you have any questions, email me at pgilbert@mpc.edu - but during the break, it may take me a few days to get back to you, so be patient!  :)

Also, if you get your books ahead of time, you might want to begin reading Chapters 3 and 4 in Writing and Reading Across the Curriculum since we have a lot of reading in this course.

Attention English 322, 302, and 112 students:

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!   Remember, the policy at MPC is that if a student misses the first day, he/she could be dropped from the course, so be sure to make it the first day!  Aim to have your books by the end of the second week of instruction.  We'll talk more about this and other class matters on the first day of class.
