I've been teaching since 1973 and have been at MPC since 1980. I graduated Teachers College, Columbia University with an MA in TESOL (1977) and an MEd in Applied Linguistics (1979). Obviously, a lot has changed since then but I've kept current by reading and following developments in the field. My own particular interests are syntax and evolutionary psychology and related topics in Linguistics.
Currently, I am teaching both on campus and online. One of my online classes is ENSL 155 - Advanced Reading and my other online class is LING 15 - Introduction to Linguistics. I am also teaching ESNL 330/430 on campus and will be teaching LING 10 - Foundations of Language on campus in the Spring 2010 semester. You can find information about those Linguistics classes below by clicking on their links. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at rabend@mpc.edu or call me (831) 646-4112. I look forward to meeting you. Best wishes on your education! Richard Abend
