Stress Management - Week 16
Stress is basically a disconnection from the earth, a forgetting of the breath. Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency. Nothing is that important. Just lie down.

Sometimes you may feel overwhelmed by a variety of stressful obligations—tests, research papers, financial aid paperwork, and speeches are just a few examples. However, it may be helpful to remind yourself that everyone experiences stress; it comes and goes throughout life.
In fact, as a college student, you may even be able to more easily anticipate and manage your stresses, as they seem to fall into six categories for most students: 1) a past history of academic failures or successes, 2) social network, 3) family, 4) money, 5) forging a career path, and 6) specific, serious situations such as an illness or death. Some time-proven antidotes to stress are effective time management and regular exercise. Visit the links below for more information on handling stress.
Also, remember that Student Health Services offers personal counseling. You can contact their staff at 831-646-4017, you can fill out an application form and bring it to Health Services in person, or email it to keyler@mpc.edu.
