This July, Monterey Peninsula College will host 50 students from local area Middle Schools and High Schools to participate in the annual Air Force Association’s (AFA) CyberCamp Program. This free five-day camp runs from July 17, 2017 - July 21, 2017 and is a component of the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Education Program, created by the Air Force Association in 2009 to attract students to cybersecurity and other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.

Students participating in the program will engage throughout the week in hands-on, active learning using specialized software to learn cyber safety, cyber ethics, and develop critical network security skills and tools. CyberCamp will culminate on Friday, July 21st with an exciting team-based competition that puts the campers in the role of IT administrators tasked with finding and addressing cybersecurity vulnerabilities in simulated network environments.

Students in the program gain valuable knowledge from the expertise of CyberPatriot's many supporters, including the Northrop Grumman Foundation, AT&T Federal and the AT&T Foundation, Cisco, Microsoft, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Facebook, Riverside Research, Splunk, Symantec, Air Force Reserve, American Military University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Leidos, and University of Maryland University College.

Monterey Peninsula College offers robust course offerings for students interested in careers in the Computer Science & Information Systems including degrees and certificates in computer information systems,  networking and security, and computer software applications.
