Mila MacBain Martínez has always been fascinated by languages. Her mother and brothers are all trilingual. Mila studied language and literature in France, and upon her return to the US, taught French at UC Davis and then at UC Santa Cruz, where she completed her doctoral work in 18th century French and English literature. She has formally studied seven languages in addition to English. She has taught ESL at Hartnell and Cuesta Colleges, and was instrumental in establishing the ESL program at Cuesta’s Paso Robles campus.

Before coming to Monterey Peninsula College, Jackie worked with college students with physical and learning disabilities and taught visually impaired K-12 students in North Dakota. She is new to the Monterey Peninsula and very much appreciates the geography and weather here. Jackie enjoys working with and learning from the diverse students at MPC.

Beth has worked in the field of ESL for over 10 years. She lived and taught abroad in Asia and enjoys the hobby of traveling to new places. She recently moved to Monterey from the University of Idaho where she managed the ESL Program there for the past five years. Her job there included recruitment efforts for the University of Idaho where she traveled to Costa Rica, Ecuador, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Mexico.  Besides travel, her interests include learning about new cultures, studying languages, and playing tennis!

Anne Marie is the Computer Technician for the ESL Department as  well as the Humanities Division Smart Classrooms. She keeps the equipment running smoothly and assists the students and faculty with any technical and/or software questions. She enjoys interacting with the diverse student population and gets a chance to practice her native French most semesters.
