An advanced course for the non-native speaker, emphasizing vocabulary development, comprehension improvement, and reading strategies. Satisfies the Reading Proficiency Requirement for the Associate degree and prepares students to read at the college level.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE CENTER
The ESL Center, located on the first floor of the Library and Technology Center, offers individualized computer-based programs, and ongoing help from ESL faculty to assist non-native English speaking students in WRITING, READING, SPELLING, VOCABULARY, GRAMMAR, CONVERSATION, PRONUNCIATION, LISTENING, and TOEFL PREPARATION.
Students may enroll anytime throughout the session in non-credit classes. Each one-half unit of credit in ENSL 300/305/306/307 requires 25.5 hours of work in the ESL Center. ENSL 300/305/306/307 may be taken for up to one-half unit this term.
Students who need ESL help with assignments from other classes are also welcome to come to the ESL Center.
The ESL Center is open the following days and hours for the Summer 2008 session(June 16 - July 24, 2008):11:30am-1:30pm • Monday through Thursday

ENSL 300/400 - INDIVIDUALIZED STUDY IN ENGLISH
A course for non-native speakers wishing to improve their English skills in any area for college, career, or personal development through work done with an instructor and/or instructional assistants. Computer, CD, and DVD as well as audio resources are available. May be taken for a maximum of three units. C/NC
