Law Enforcement Academy

The California Commission of Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certifies the Monterey Peninsula College Law Enforcement Academy.  MPC has partnered with the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium (The Academy), to offer law enforcement training academies in two formats:

  • The Regular Basic Intensive format is a forty-hour (five days per week) program designed for those individuals who wish to complete the police academy training program in six months.  Some of the students in this training program may be currently employed by a California police agency or a California sheriff's office.

  • The Basic Academy Modular (BAM) format is offered on weekends only and requires about 14 months to complete.  This police academy training format provides an opportunity for students who are currently working full-time to complete the training requirements to become a peace officer.
