| About the Physical Fitness Department |


The Physical Fitness Department and its staff are dedicated to helping students and community members learn about and practice healthy lifestyles. A variety of types of fitness activities are available. Individualized fitness testing and exercise prescription are available for all fitness students. Programs in Massage Therapy and Fitness Instructor Training are offered. The goal of the FIT program is to prepare students for entry-level positions as personal trainers or group exercise leaders. It also prepares students for certification examinations by ACE, AFAA, NSCA and ACSM. Fitness professionals can take individual courses for continuing education credit.

FITNESS AND WEIGHT TRAINING CENTER
In the spring of 2007 the MPC Fitness and Weight Training Center opened its doors. The innovative design of this 7,700 square foot facility offers a spectacular view of the recently constructed MPC Community Stadium which includes an all-weather track and state of the art artificial turf on the football/soccer and softball fields.
The Fitness and Weight Training Center provides a wide range of equipment including 34 cardiovascular stations, more than 40 Magnum weight machines and a full weight room with 10 new all-purpose weight racks. In addition each student has the opportunity for a full fitness assessment.
The Center's hours for Early Spring 2010 are 8 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Saturday; 4 PM to 7 PM Monday through Thursday. To use the Fitness & Weight Training Center for the Early Spring session register for PFIT 14. The Early Spring session for the Fitness and Weight Training Center begins January 4 and ends January 26, 2010.
The Center's hours during the regular Spring 2010 semester are 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday; 6 AM to 4:00 PM Friday; 8 AM to 1 PM Saturday and 10 AM to 2 PM Sunday. To register see the following fitness department classes: PFIT 8, PFIT 9, PFIT 10, PFIT 20, and PFIT 50. The Fitness and Weight Training classes for the regular Spring 2010 semester begin February 1, 2010.
On-line registration (WebReg) for both Early Spring and the regular Spring 2010 sessions begins November 23, 2009.
