| About the Physical Fitness Department |


The Physical Fitness Department and its staff are dedicated to helping students and community members learn about and practice healthy lifestyles. A variety of types of fitness activities are available. Individualized fitness testing and exercise prescription are available for all fitness students. Programs in Massage Therapy and Fitness Instructor Training are offered. The goal of the FIT program is to prepare students for entry-level positions as personal trainers or group exercise leaders. It also prepares students for certification examinations by ACE, AFAA, NSCA and ACSM. Fitness professionals can take individual courses for continuing education credit.

FITNESS AND WEIGHT TRAINING CENTER
In the spring of 2007 the MPC Fitness and Weight Training Center opened its doors. The innovative design of this 7,700 square foot facility offers a spectacular view of the recently constructed MPC Community Stadium which includes an all-weather track and state of the art artificial turf on the football/soccer and softball fields.
The Fitness and Weight Training Center provides a wide range of equipment including 34 cardiovascular stations, more than 40 Magnum weight machines and a full weight room with 10 new all-purpose weight racks. In addition each student has the opportunity for a full fitness assessment.
FALL SEMESTER HOURS, 2011: The Center's hours for the Fall 2011 semester are 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Thursday; 7 AM to 4 PM, Friday; 9 AM to 1 PM Saturday and Sunday. To use the Fitness Center you must register for one of the following classes, depending on your area of interest: PFIT 8, Aerobic Conditioning; PFIT 9, Personal Fitness; PFIT 10, Weight Training; PFIT 20 Circuit Training; or PFIT 50 Independent Fitness. The Fall 2011 Semester begins August 22 and runs through December 13
EARLY SPRING SEMESTER HOURS, 2012 Revised: The Center's hours are 8 am to 1 pm, Monday through Friday, and 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, Monday through Thursday and Saturday, 9 am 1 pm (closed Sundays), beginning January 3 and ending January 24, 2012. To use the Fitness & Weight Training Center, you must enroll in PFIT 14, Exercise for Health and Fitness.
SPRING SEMESTER, 2012: The Center's hours for the Spring 2012 Semester are 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Thursday; 7 am to 4 pm on Fridays; 9 am to 1 pm, Saturday and Sundays. To use the Fitness and Weight Training Center, you must enroll in one of the following classes, depending on your area of interest: PFIT 8, Aerobic Conditioning; PFIT 9, Personal Fitness; PFIT 10, Weight Training; PFIT 20, Circuit Training; or PFIT 50, Independent Fitness. The Spring 2012 Semester dates for the Fitness and Weight Training Center are January 30 through May 29, 2012.
