Engineering Department
The Engineering Department provides lower-division engineering courses in conjunction with the Physics and Mathematics Departments to transfer to the University of California and other state, and out-of-state, institutions. Preparation is given for Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering, as well as Aeronautical, Chemical, Environmental, and many other Engineering majors.
Department Chair: Tom Rebold
Counselor: Alethea DeSoto
Division: Physical Science
Students considering Engineering as a major should schedule an appointment with an MPC counselor to develop an education plan.
All engineering students are encouraged to take ENGR 1 Introduction to Engineering to orient themselves to the profession.
The following chart illustrates the main pre-requisite path for Math/Physics/Engineering core classes needed by most students to transfer from MPC as a junior in Engineering. Each column represents a semester at MPC. Other classes will be needed--please see the Engineering Counselor or the Engineering Chair for more information. Please note that Engineering students are discouraged from pursuing IGETC (General Ed Curriculum) by most Universities due to the overriding need to complete the technical preparations needed for their upper division classes.
