You are  strongly encouraged to MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A COUNSELOR TO REVIEW YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR GRADUATION.                       

Deadline to receive all transcripts, the MPC Graduation Survey, and the Petition for an Associate Degree for graduation:

 The Petition for Graduation is available.  You will need to print it  and fill out  the hardcopy. The petition requires you to enter Major and  College Codes.  Mail the completed petition to the Admissions and Records Office.

Review statements below to determine if you are eligible to petition for graduation.

1. I will have completed 60.0 units that count toward graduation, 40.0 units of which must have letter grades (as of Fall 1990, 500 and 300 series courses are not applicable toward the 60.0 unit requirement.)
2.

I will have a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher.

3.

I will have completed the courses required in my major.

4.

I will have completed the appropriate General Education pattern for my degree.

5.

I will have completed at least 12.0 units at MPC.

6.

I will have completed at least 6.0 units in the major at MPC.

7.

I will have met the Reading and Writing Proficiency requirements.

8.

I will have met the Mathematics proficiency requirement.

9.

I will have all waivers and/or substitutions approved by the appropriate Division Chairperson on the MPC Advising Form.

STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITIES 

1.

It is the student’s responsibility to have all necessary official transcripts and/or scores mailed, by the issuing institution/agency, to the Admissions and Records Office by the appropriate deadline stated above.

All transcripts from foreign colleges/universities must be evaluated by the Director, International Student Programs located in the International Center Building, Room 108 (831-646-4024).

For students with catalog rights before Fall 1997 using high school math to complete math proficiency, a copy of the high school transcript must be on file by the appropriate deadline stated above.

2.

You will be notified by the Admissions and Records Office of the status of your petition within three weeks after the submission of your petition.

3.

The graduation ceremony is held the first Saturday in June in the College Amphitheater.

Graduation ceremony information will be mailed in  May by the Student Activities Office to prospective June candidates and to all who graduated in August and December of the previous academic year.
 

4.

All degrees will be mailed within eight weeks after the end of the semester/session in which all degree requirements are completed.

If you plan to transfer to another college, graduation from MPC does not necessarily mean that you have met the General Education Requirements at the college to which you are transferring.  Please make an appointment to meet with an MPC counselor at (831) 646-4020 to determine if you have met all necessary transfer requirements.
