MPC's Nick Grim Drafted in 14th Round
The ace of the Lobos staff was drafted in the 14th round of the MLB draft by the Florida Marlins.  Grim was the 433rd player taken in the draft.  Nick, has already signed a scholarship to play at D-1 Cal Poly, was 6-3 with a 2.81 and struck out 95 batters in 83 innings pitched this year for MPC.
All 13 Lobo Sophomores Moving On

After an outstanding season with the record of 20-16 overall, all 13 of MPC's sophomores will be transferring on. As a group, there is over $100,000 in scholarships awarded. 5 All Conference selections, 1 All American, 1 All Northern Cal, 4 All Conference Academic Team members, and 2 of them are expecting to be drafted in the Major League Baseball draft on June 6th.

Nick Grim and Michael Aldrete Recieve State Awards
On Saturday May 21st, Nick Grim and Michael Aldrete were honored at the state meeting for their sucess this season.  Nick Grim was voted onto the All Northern California team as a starting pitcher and Michael Aldrete was voted to the highest honor give out for Junior College athletes as an All American.
5 Lobos Named to All Conference Team
MPC is proud to announce that 5 members of the Lobos have been named to the All Coast Pacific Conference Team.
 
1st Team selections were:
Nick Grim- Pitcher
Michael Aldrete- Utility
Jordan Queja- Infield
 
2nd Team selections were:
Shane Yoshiyama- Outfield
Chris Untereiner- Designated Hitter
Lobos Defeat Hartnell to End the Year
In front of a packed house, Michael Aldrete closed out the game in the top of the 9th inning with bases loaded with the score 3-2.  Aldrete came into the 9th with runners on 1st and 2nd base, no outs,  and used two strikeouts and a pop out to end the game in a thriller.
 
Aldrete also led the Lobos on offense (2 for 4, 2 runs) and picked up the save.  Starter Nick Grim (6-3) pitched 7 strong innings giving up only 1 earned run and struck out 8.  Other leading hitters were Jordan Queja (2 for 3), Chris Untereiner (2 for 4).
 
Record: 20-16.
Lobos Win At Skyline 5-3
MPC traveled up to Skyline College and got the 5-3 win behind the solid pitching of Mario Carrillo.  Carrillo picked up his 5th win of the year, going 8 innings and giving up only 4 hits.  Michael Aldrete led the way offensively and also got the save (6th of season).  Aldrete (3 for 4) hit a two run triple in the 7th inning to take the lead.  Charlie McClung and Shane Yoshiyama also had 3 hits on the day.

4-3 Loss on Road
MPC Baseball traveled up to Canada College today and lost 4-3.  Starting pitcher Michael Romiza gave up 4 runs after two innings and Chase Moreland came in relief to shut down Canada College the rest of the game.  MPC's rallied fell short in the 9th inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd.  Leading hitters were Jordan Queja (2 for 5), Roger Boulden (2 for 4), Geoff MacDonald (2 for 4, HR), Shane Yoshiyama (2 for 4).
 
Record: 18-16
Lobos Get Shut Out by Ohlone College
MPC lost today 4-0.  The Lobos were only able to put together 4 hits on the day.  Starting pitcher Nick Grim through 7 innings, striking out 8, and giving up only 1 earned run.
 
Lobos play tomorrow at Canada College, 2:30.
MPC Wins 16-2
MPC defeated San Francisco City College today 16-2.  Mario Carrillo picked up his 4th win of the season by pitching 7 innings and striking out 9 batters and giving up 1 earned run.  Leading hitters were Jeremy Green (3 for 4), Jordan Queja (2 for 4), Shane Yoshiyama (3 for 6), Michael Aldrete (2 for 4), Geoff MacDonald (3 for 4), Ray Guyton (2 for 4) and Chucky Lazarus hit a 3 run homerun.

Femur Vultures Another Win for the Lobos
Femur Moreland came in relief for starter Michael Romiza in the 4th inning to pick up his 5th win of the season out of the pen.  Michael Aldrete had a big day for the Lobos, going 2 for 3 with a homerun and came in the 8th and 9th to pick up the save.
