MEN'S BASKETBALL
MPC Consolation Champions in the San Jose City Tournament
TJ Todd scored 23 points, 4 for 5 from three, to lead the Lobos in the consolation finals on Sunday beating Skyline College 65-55. Mitch Philp and Matt Baker each added 10 points and six rebounds for MPC, Philp was also 2 for 3 from behind the arc. Alex Brandon also chipped in 8 points and led the Lobos with 10 rebounds. Julian Demalleville tallied 7 assists.
On Saturday, the Lobos beat Merced 82-63 behind 21 points 7 rebounds from Todd and 18 points 6 rebounds from Baker. Dondrale Campbell also chipped in 10 points.
Friday night’s game, to put MPC in the consolation, MPC fell to Top-Ranked Riverside College 53-66. The Lobos defense held tight the entire second half to keep the margin at three but Riverside made their free throws down the stretch to widen the gap. The Lobos were led by Matt Baker and Julian Demalleville with 12 points each. Baker grabbed 8 rebounds and Demalleville also snagged 7. TJ Todd added 10 points for MPC.
