POWER / GAS / WATER FAILURE
In the event of a major utility failure, such as electrical power, during working hours (8:00 AM through 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday), immediately notify the Facilities Department at 645-1363 or 646-4049.
1. If there is potential danger to the building occupants, or if the utility failure occurs after hours, on weekends or holidays, notify College Security. If no answer; call Monterey Police dispatcher at 646-3914.
2. If necessary, or if directed to do so by College Security, activate the building evacuation alarm, then follow steps below.
3. Notify your supervisor or instructor, and then evacuate the building quickly by walking to the nearest exit, alerting other people as you go.
4. Direct the physically disabled to elevator lobbies only if electricity is functioning. Assist anyone in need to exit the building.
5. Once outside, move to a clear area at least 30 feet away from the affected building. Keep walkways clear for emergency vehicles.
6. To the best of your ability, and without re-entering the building, assist College Security or college staff in their attempt to determine that everyone has evacuated safely.
7. An Incident Command Center (ICC) will be set up near the emergency site. Keep clear of the ICC unless you have important information to report.
DO NOT RETURN TO A BUILDING UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO OR UNTIL THE ALL CLEAR SIGNAL HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED.
