Associate Degrees , Certificates of Achievement, and Certificates of Completion
Associate Degree
The California State Board of Education has authorized the Monterey Peninsula College Board of Trustees to confer the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees. The Associate in Arts degree is awarded in the liberal arts areas; the Associate in Science degree is awarded in the science, technical, and vocational fields.
The associate degree is awarded upon satisfying the following:
- Competency Requirements
- Major
- General Education Pattern
- Sixty Units
- Grade Point Average of 2.0

Certificate of Achievement
The college is authorized to offer the Certificate of Achievement. A Certificate of Achievement requires 18 or more units which recognizes a student's satisfactory completion of an organized program of study. Certificate programs differ from degree programs in that students are not required to complete the general education requirements.
Certificate of Completion/List of Certificates of Completion
The academic departments of the college are authorized to offer Certificates of Completion which require fewer than 18 units to complete. Many of these certificates can be completed in one semester. Contact academic departments which offer Certificates of Completion for more information.
