Is online learning for you?
Only you can answer these questions, but here are some general guidelines.
You might prefer the online version if you:
- need scheduling flexibility for class work,
- are a self-managed and self-motivated learner,
- prefer using your own computer,
- and are somewhat confident about computing (or have someone nearby who can help you "troubleshoot.)
You might feel more comfortable in the more traditional classroom version if you
- have a schedule that allows you to attend all class meetings,
- prefer a classroom setting,
- need a lot of "in person" contact with your instructor,
- don't mind sharing a computer for any hands-on computer work,
- or are very new to computers and don't have anybody nearby who can help you.
Average time commitment:
You will need to access your online course material as often as three times a week and be prepared to commit as much time to the course as you would to an on-campus course. If you are new to the Internet, it may take you a few days to become comfortable with the software and other technology.
