STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES

FINANCIAL AID SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS POLICY

(SAP)

In order to maintain Financial Aid eligibility, MPC requires a student to make financial aid satisfactory academic progress while enrolled in a course of study leading to a vocational certificate, associate degree, or transfer program to a four year institution.  A student is required to declare an educational objective at the time of admission.  The major declared at the Admissions and Records Office must be the same major on file in the Student Financial Services Office.  The general intention of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy is to monitor continued progress toward a student’s educational goal.

 

General Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP):

To be eligible for financial aid a student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress whether or not financial aid was received during previous enrollment periods.  A student is making or maintaining financial aid satisfactory progress during a given semester/session when:

               

1.     The number of units which financial aid funds were awarded were completed. 

example:

                Full-time                                                12.0 or more units

                3/4-time                                                 9.0 to 11.5 units

                1/2-time                                                 6.0 to 8.5 units

                Less than 1/2-time                             0.5 to 5.5 units

      2.         Completing units is defined as receiving a grade of A, B, C, D, or CR (Credit). The following grades are    not  considered completing units when computing the semester/tern units completed:

F              Failure

W            Withdrawal           

NC          No Credit

I               Incomplete

IP            In Progress

RD          Report Delayed

A student is responsible for reporting all grade changes which impact financial aid satisfactory progress.

3.             A semester grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 (C average) is earned.

4.             A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 (C average) is earned.
