Satisfactory Academic Progress

 

In order to maintain financial aid eligibility, MPC requires a student to make financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) while enrolled in a course of study leading to a vocational certificate, associate degree, or transfer program to a four year institution,  whether or not financial aid was received during previous enrollment periods. SAP is monitored at the end of every semester/session. (668.34 (3) (i)) A student is making or maintaining financial aid satisfactory progress during a given semester/session when:

      Grade Point Average:

  • The semester Grade Point Average (GPA) is at least a 2.0 (C average).
  • The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is at least 2.0 (C average).

      Units Completed: 

  • Units Completed is defined as receiving a grade of A, B, C, D, or P(Pass)/CR (Credit).

      Pace of Progression:

  • Students who receive financial aid must complete a minimum of 67% of the units attempted/enrolled each semester.
  • Students who receive financial aid must complete a minimum of 67% of the cumulative units attempted/enrolled.
  • Grades of F, W, NP/NC ,I, IP, RD are not considered units completed.
  • Grades of F, W, NP/NC, I, are included in the units attempted.
  • Grades of IP and RD are counted in units attempted if a final grade is not eventually posted.
  • Repeated units and units removed by Academic Renewal are included in units attempted and completed.
