In order to maintain Financial Aid eligibility, MPC requires a student to make Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress while enrolled in a course of study leading to a vocational certificate, associate degree, or transfer program to a four year institution. A student is required to declare an educational objective at the time of admission. The major declared at the Admissions and Records Office must be the same major on file in the Student Financial Services Office. The general intention of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy is to monitor continued progress toward a student’s educational goal.
General Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP): To be eligible for financial aid a student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress whether or not financial aid was received during previous enrollment periods. A student is making or maintaining financial aid satisfactory progress during a given semester/session when:
1. The number of units which financial aid funds were awarded were completed.
2. Completing units is defined as receiving a grade of A, B, C, D, or CR (Credit). The following grades are not considered completing units when computing the semester/tern units completed:
F Failure
W Withdrawal
NC No Credit
I Incomplete
IP In Progress
RD Report Delayed
A student is responsible for reporting all grade changes which may impact financial aid satisfactory progress to Student Financial Services.
3. A semester grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 (C average) is earned.
4. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 (C average) is earned.
