OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAMS
Monterey Peninsula College Occupation Education Program offers the student basic technical and professional curricula to gain the skills and knowledge needed for employment, job advancement, certification, and/or the associate degree.
Certificate of Achievement
The college offers the Certificate of Achievement which recognizes a student's satisfactory completion of an organized program of study. The Certificate of Achievement is awarded upon satisfying the following:
Major requirements
a. Each course in the major must be completed with a grade of "C" or better. Some programs
require higher performance levels.
b. At least twelve (12) units applied toward the major requirements must be completed at
Monterey Peninsula College.
Certificate of Training
Some departments provide a Certificate of Training to students who successfully complete a Fast Track program or short term, intensive course sequence designed to prepare students for entry-level employment opportunities. Many Fast Track programs can be completed in one semester.
Students who complete these certificate programs are encouraged to return to Monterey Peninsula College to complete the Certificate of Achievement and Associate degree.
Students must file an application for a Certificate of Training through the department offering the program.
As a student wishing to take courses to improve job skills complete the following:
- Apply for Admission
- Assessment-- Complete the English Placement Test or the English as A Second Language Test if the course you plan to take is an English class or requires an Engish course as a prerequisite.
- Meet with a counselor if you wish to discuss classes in which you are interested.
- Register for classes.
