English Assessment

You may assess once every six months. Once you have assessed you must wait 6 months or more before you can reassess without registering for or starting the MPC English or ENSL Sequence. When reassessing, whether a student receives a lower or higher score, the new assessment results will override the previous.

A student may not assess or reassess if s/he has started the English sequence and has received one of the following grades: A, B, C, D, F, P/NP-(previously C/NC), I, or W.

A student may also challenge assessment results with the English Department during the challenge dates established by the English Department. See Challenge Policies.

Math Assessment

You may assess twice in a six month period, as follows:

IF your results are "Take a Lower Assessment" or you are unsatisfied with your placement, you may RETEST after 14 days. Keep in mind, RETEST placement results will stand, whether higher or lower than initial test score.

IF unsatisfied with results of your RETEST, you must wait 6 months AND have not started classes in the MPC Math Sequence (any course from Math 360 to Math 20A), to test again.

IF you have started the Math Sequence and received any of the following grades: A, B, C, D, F, P/NP-(previously C/NC), I, or W, you MAY NOT assess or retest.

IF you have take the Math Assessment TWICE within a 6-month period and are still unsatisfied, you may also CHALLENGE results with the Math Department. See Challenge Policies.

English as a Second Language
