Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) at Monterey Peninsula College!
CARE (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education) is collaboration between Monterey Peninsula College EOPS and the Monterey County Department of Social Services (MCDSS). It is a program designed to help students succeed in college.
CARE recognizes that many students, as single parents on TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families—formerly AFDC), have never been able to go to college. The reasons may have been problems with child care, transportation, or family difficulties. It is the goal of this program to give TANF participants a chance to overcome some of these obstacles and expand their educational and job training opportunities.
The primary service provided to CARE students, in addition to those provided by EOPS, is non duplicated assistance with child care expenses. Child care is provided through grants that are disbursed on specified dates throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.
