This Assessment is for students that wish to take English and Math classes or classes that have English and Math prerequisites.
The English Assessment (CTEP) is divided into two parts-a reading comprehension assessment and a written essay. A topic will be provided for the essay. Placement into reading and writing classes will be based on your assessment.
For math classes starting in FALL 2009, you will choose between four Math Assessments, each designed for placement into different levels of math. Please review math practice examples under “Which Math Should I Take?”. You will let us know which numbered assessment (1,2,3 or 4) you will be taking at check in on the day of your scheduled assessment:
Allow 3 hours total for the English & Math Assessment.

Students are required to make an appointment for any assessment.

2 hour TIMED English Assessment and a 1 hour TIMED Math Assessment

Please arrive 30 before the assessment, doors close 10 minutes prior to assessment times indicated

No late admittance

Children are not allowed in the testing area and may not be left unattended on campus

You must have your Picture ID & MPC Student ID # in order to be admitted to the Assessment

If you are late, forget to bring a Picture ID, MPC Student ID, or do not know which math # assessment you will be taking, you will be asked to reschedule your Assessment for another day.
You MUST make your decision on which Math Assessment (#1, #2, #3, or #4) you will be taking prior to attending the Assessment date. You will inform us of your final decision at check-in.

At this time, you can only make online assessment appointments from computers that are located on the MPC Campus. If off campus, please call 831-646-4027 to make an appointment.
PLEASE NOTE: Dates and times are subject to change
NOTE: Proper placement in English or English as a Second Language (ENSL) class will help to insure academic success. If English is your native (first) language, you should take the English Assessment. If English is NOT your native (first) language, you should take the English as a Second Language Assessment. Taking the inappropriate Assessment may result in improper placement. |
