Exemption from English Placement Test
Students may be exempt from taking the English Placement Test if they meet one of the exemption criteria listed below:
- If you have completed a college level reading or writing course, provide the Testing Center with copies of your college transcripts and a completed Prerequisite Verification Form. This form is also found in the Schedule of Classes.
- If you have completed English assessment at another California community college, and have not completed a reading or writing course, provide the Testing Center with your scores from the other college.
- If you are eligible to receive English credit through completion of the CLEP (50th percentile) or Advanced Placement (score of 3 or higher) provide Admissions and Records Office with official copies of your test scores. Provide the Testing Center with unofficial copies of your test scores and a completed Prerequisite Verification Form.
NOTE:
- High school and/or college transcripts or test score reports are used as documents that show you have met the requirements listed above.
- Submit these documents, together with a completed Prerequisite Verification Form, to the Counseling Department, located in the Student Services Building.
- Prerequisite Verification Forms can be found in the Schedules of Classes, at the Counseling Department, or on this website.
