ADPE 8  INTRODUCTION TO
ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION

.5 unit • LG-P/NP • One and one-half hours activity
This course is designed to provide students with disabilities an intro-
duction to the adapted physical education program. May be taken
four times for credit. After that, may be repeated based on measurable
progress as documented in the Student Education Plan. A current
exercise referral signed by a physician or authorized health specialist is
required prior to initiating the exercise plan.
Credit transferable: CSU

ADPE 9  ADAPTED PERSONAL FITNESS
1 unit • LG-P/NP • Three hours activity
This course will provide information and activities designed to
increase the personal ftness level of disabled students. May be taken
four times for credit. After that, may be repeated based on measurable
progress as documented in the Student Education Plan. A current
exercise referral signed by a physician or authorized health specialist is
required prior to initiating the exercise plan.

ADPE 13  PHYSICAL EDUCATION: ADAPTED
1.5 units • LG-P/NP • Four and one-half hours activity
This course is designed for students who are unable to proft from a
regular physical education class. May be taken four times for credit.
After that, may be repeated based on measurable progress as docu-
mented in the Student Education Plan. A current exercise referral
signed by physician or authorized health specialist is required prior to
initiating the exercise plan.

ADPE 14  ADAPTED AEROBICS
1 unit • LG-P/NP • Three hours activity
This course is designed to provide non-impact creative rhythmic activ-
ities to music which promote ftness and improved range of motion.
May be taken four times for credit. After that, may be repeated based
on measurable progress as documented in the Student Education
Plan. A current exercise referral signed by physician or authorized
health specialist is required prior to initiating the exercise plan.

ADPE 15  HEART HEALTHY EXERCISE
1.5 units • LG-P/NP • Four and one-half hours activity
This course is designed for students who have, or are at high risk
for, cardiovascular conditions that prevent their safe participation
in regular physical education. The emphasis is on positive lifestyle
changes including diet, stress management, and exercise. May be
taken four times for credit. After that, may be repeated based on
measurable progress as documented in the Student Education Plan.
A current exercise referral signed by physician or authorized health
specialist is required prior to initiating the exercise plan.

ADPE 16  ADAPTED FLEXIBILITY AND MOVEMENT
TECHNIQUES
1 unit • LG-P/NP • Three hours activity
Designed for disabled students, this course covers stretching exercises
and movement principles related to fexibility. May be taken four
times for credit. After that, may be repeated based on measurable
progress as documented in the Student Education Plan. A current
exercise referral signed by a physician or authorized health specialist is
required prior to initiating the exercise plan.
