ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION

ADPE 13  PHYSICAL EDUCATION: ADAPTED
Designed for students who are unable to proft from a regular 
physical education class. May be taken four times for credit. After that,
may be repeated based on measurable progress as documented in
the Student Education Plan. A current exercise referral signed by a
physician or authorized health specialist is required prior to initiating
the exercise plan. LG-P/NP

ADPE 15  HEART HEALTHY EXERCISE
Designed for students who have, or are at high risk for, cardiovascular
conditions. Emphasis on positive lifestyle changes including diet,
stress management and exercise. May be taken four times for credit.
After that, may be repeated based on measurable progress as 
documented in the Student Education Plan. A current exercise referral
signed by a physician or authorized health specialist is required prior
to initiating the exercise plan. LG-P/NP

LNSK 306  STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS FOR
ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER
Allows students with attention defcits and/or learning disabilities to
receive instruction and direction in developing and applying 
compensatory strategies for attention, concentration and organization
problems. The class will assist students in developing skills necessary to
prepare them for and support them in mainstream classes, successful
employment or increased independence. May be taken two times for
credit. After that, may be repeated based on measurable progress as
documented in the student’s Education Plan. P/NP

LNSK 320  MODIFIED WORD PROCESSING I
Designed for anyone with physical, communicative, and/or learning
disabilities. Introduces students to word processing using adapted
computer technology for learning word processing terminology.
Students should complete LNSK 309 prior to enrolling. May be taken
three times for credit. After that, may be repeated based on measurable
progress as documented in the student’s Education Plan. P/NP

LNSK 329  MODIFIED COMPUTER PROJECTS
Provides opportunity for students to use their computer knowledge in
completing approved projects independently under supervision of the
instructor. Students should complete LNSK 320 prior to enrolling. May be
taken three times for credit. After that, may be repeated based on 
measurable progress as documented in the student’s Education Plan. P/NP

Intensive learning skills assessment for students with potential learn-
ing disabilities. Assessment of specifc academic and learning style,
achievement, cognitive ability, and the development of an Education
Plan, outlining learning objectives. P/NP

LNSK 331B  READING STRATEGIES LAB
Intensive strategies lab for students with disabilities who require
specialized assistance in order to pursue regular courses. Focus on
development of a process-based approach to reading skills with a
computer emphasis. Designed for students enrolled in LNSK 332 and
to support students in any class requiring reading assignments. May
be taken four times for credit. After that, may be repeated based on
provisions of Title 5, Section 56029. P/NP

Intensive writing lab for students with disabilities who require 
specialized assistance in order to pursue regular courses. Develop-

Designed for students enrolled in LNSK 333 and to support students
enrolled in any class requiring written assignments. May be taken four
times for credit. After that, may be repeated based on provisions of 
Title 5, Section 56029. P/NP

LNSK 331E  THINKING AND REASONING STRATEGIES LAB
Intensive individualized thinking and reasoning skills lab for students
with disabilities who require specialized assistance in order to pursue
regular courses. Concentration, short-term memory, organization,
deductive reasoning, and information processing will be emphasized
using the computer as one learning tool. May be taken four times for
credit. After that, may be repeated based on provisions of Title 5, 
Section 56029. P/NP

LNSK 331G  AUDITORY PROCESSING STRATEGIES LAB
Intensive strategies lab for students with disabilities requiring specialized
assistance in order to pursue regular courses. Focus on development of
a process-based approach to auditory processing, attention/focus, and
communication skills with an emphasis on the use of specialized 
equipment. Designed to support students in any class requiring verbal
and/or written communication skills. May be taken two times for credit. Af-
ter that, may be repeated based on provisions of Title 5, Section 56029. P/NP

Designed for students with disabilities to develop and increase basic
reading skills, comprehension and vocabulary. Stresses a multi-sensory
approach. Students should complete LNSK 330 or 350 before enrolling.
May be taken three times for credit. After that, may be repeated based
on measurable progress as documented in the student’s Education
Plan. P/NP

LNSK 333  WRITING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Basic writing skills instruction for students with disabilities to develop
grammar, sentence construction, paragraph development, and short
essay organization skills using a multi-sensory process approach.
Examination of personal learning strengths/weaknesses in written
expression and reduction of anxiety related to the writing experience.
May be taken three times for credit. After that, may be repeated based
on provisions of Title 5, Section 56029. P/NP

LNSK 352  THINKING AND REASONING SKILLS
Instruction in basic critical thinking skills and reasoning strategies. 
Development of strategies to enhance attention, memory, categori-
zation, association, logic and reasoning. Emphasis on selection and
application of learning strategies and self-awareness of strengths and
weaknesses related to the student’s disability. May be taken four times
for credit. After that, may be repeated based on provisions of Title 5,
Section 56029. P/NP

LNSK 409  CAREER EXPLORATION AND JOB SEARCH
STRATEGIES
Designed specifcally for students with disabilities who require 
individualized assistance identifying and implementing vocational
and employment goals. Directed activities include career assessments
and job readiness skills. NC

LNSK 410  JOB READINESS I
Assists students with developmental disabilities in entry-level work
preparation. Includes basic work routine orientation, on-the-job
relationships, job retention skills, and the use of computers and other
adapted technologies used in the workplace. NC
