WOMN/HUMA 1: Introduction to Women's Studies

A multidisciplinary introduction to the purpose and subject matter of Women's Studies.  Perspectives on many social issues affecting women.

WOMN/PSYC 6: Psychology of Women

The developmental process of women; societal and biological factors that influence behavior and self-image.  Explores ways to promote development of women's full potential and optimum mental health.

WOMN/POLS 10: Women in United States Government

Roles and influence of women in contemporary American politics, including current campaigns and future strategies.  Legal and civil rights of women in areas of employment, credit, criminal law, and public participation.

This course covers American Indian, African American, Asian American, Latina, European American and immigrant women heroines and "ordinary" women who have shaped United States history and culture.

This course covers American Indian, African American, Asian American, Latina, European American and immigrant women heroines and "ordinary" women who have shaped United States history and culture. 

Optional initial class meeting: Saturday, January 30, 11-noon, LTC 203/204.  Students who cannot attend the optional introductory meeting MUST email smawhirter@mpc.edu with a preferred email address for the course.  This course is offered through the Internet.  Students must have access to a computer and be familiar with using the Internet.  Students taking this class should obtain their library cards prior to the initial orientation meeting for logging in and accessing the online resources.  For course information email smawhirter@mpc.edu or visit the instructor's website at http://www.mpcfaculty.net/Sarah_Mawhirter

WOMN/PHIL/HUMA 40: Introduction to Feminist Theory

Encourages students to reflect on historical and present-day images of women and men through readings in philosophy, psychology, and history by both male and famale authors.  Engages students in critical analysis of the readings and the changes that feminist theory has undergone, as well as its relationship to other theories.
