This summer, ten students from the MPC Computer Information Systems Networking/Cyber Security program joined the Cisco Dream Team to support the extensive networking needs at the US Open golf championship - it was the experience of a lifetime!

Students gained hands-on networking in a high-profile environment, working alongside seasoned engineers to help build and support the CISCO-powered network from June 3-19 at this legendary event.

In order to apply, students had to:

  • be nominated by their CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) instructors,
  • complete 2 foundational CISCO courses, and
  • be prepared for the CISCO Certification Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification exam.

CISCO's original call for 8-10 applicants went out to 3 local colleges, MPC stepped up to the plate with students filling all open positions. This valuable local learning opportunity provided MPC students with real-world experience solving unique technical problems and professional connections to provide entryways to career opportunities for them as they graduate. It highlights the strength of the Computer Information Systems Program and the effectiveness and commitment of core faculty members, Professor DJ Singh and John Olsen.
