ALERT: Weapon on Campus
Yesterday (August 31, 2017), we received 3 calls from students regarding an individual with a knife in a holster attached to his belt walking on campus. The subject was located on campus by security. Monterey Police was contacted and the individual was escorted off campus and advised that weapons of any kind are not allowed on campus. While escorted off campus, the individual became irate and noncompliant.
At 2:20 pm the subject was taken into custody by Monterey police.
THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS APPLY TO ALL ON CAMPUS
Board Policy 3530 Weapons on Campus
Firearms or other weapons shall be prohibited on any college or District center or in any facility of the District except for activities conducted under the direction of District officials or as authorized by an official law enforcement agency.
STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. STANDARDS OF CONDUCT: Students shall be subject to College discipline for any of the following kinds of misconduct which occurs at any time on campus or at any off-campus facility or College-approved or College-sponsored function: Use, possession, or sale of any firearm, knife, explosive, or other objects, that could be classified as a weapon (unless the student has specific authorization from a College official).
