MONTEREY, CA – Dr. Walter Tribley, Monterey Peninsula Community College District Superintendent/President, has accepted the position as President of Northern Wyoming Community College District (NWCCD) starting in July 2019.

Dr. Tribley was unanimously selected as NWCCD President by the seven-member Board of Trustees following a rigorous six-month national search. NWCCD is a multi-campus district that is highly valued by its community. It is well-known for its industry-aligned and relevant Career Technical Education programs, exceptional transfer programs, and robust student residential life.

Dr. Tribley has served as Superintendent/President of MPC since December 2012. Under his transformational leadership, MPC has made significant and lasting progress that directly benefits the students and the community it serves.

“Meaningful and transformational change has required hard work and dedication by the entire MPC campus community,” said Dr. Tribley. “The reward—providing life-changing educational opportunities to our diverse community—is worthy of the effort we have put into it.”

MPC’s many accomplishments under Dr. Tribley’s leadership include:

  • achieving fiscal stability by improving institutional effectiveness, expanding revenue sources, ending deficit spending, and balancing the budget;
  • ensuring MPC’s accreditation status as fully reaffirmed through 2023;
  • expanding access to non-traditional community college students through educational partnerships with California State University Monterey Bay and local high schools;
  • obtaining MPC’s first federal Title V Hispanic Serving Institutions grant for $3.75 million;
  • enhancing student success, completion, and transfer to institutions of higher education (University of California and California State University systems); and
  • enhancing the structure of the institution to better serve planning, college advancement, and fund-raising for athletics.

Dr. Tribley emphasized the many integral contributions made by members of the MPC community in achieving these, and other, goals.

“I am privileged to have worked alongside MPC’s Board of Trustees, cabinet leaders, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders, who are dedicated to our students and fully engaged in the often challenging, yet always rewarding work of transforming lives through education. Although I will miss MPC and the community my family and I have called home for over six years, I am excited to begin my service as Northern Wyoming Community College District’s next President,” said Dr. Tribley.

Dr. Tribley notified the MPC community of his pending departure in June 2018, prompting MPC’s search for the next Superintendent/President, which is well underway.
