Congratulations MPC 2019 Graduates!
MPC celebrated in a big way on with graduates at the Main Commencement ceremony, followed by the Maurine Church Coburn School of Nursing Pinning and Candlelight ceremony. The bleachers in the MPC football stadium were full of families, friends and relatives of the graduates, who came to support and cheer the students who earned over 700 associate degrees and 350 certificates over the past year.
This year's keynote speech was given by Dr. Walt Tribley, who is assuming the position of president of Northern Wyoming Community College District in July 2019 after a distinguished career as Monterey Peninsula Community College District superintendent/president.
Associated Students of Monterey Peninsula College (ASMPC) President, Yuliana Barron Perez also spoke to the graduates, in English and Spanish, sharing her personal and inspiring educational journey of success achieved through her dedication, hard work, and true grit.
In addition to the main event, MPC also holds many other special recognition ceremonies throughout the month of May, honoring students from diverse backgrounds who have worked so hard to earn their degrees and certificates as students at MPC. These ceremonies offer students a way to celebrate in smaller, intimate groups, allowing students the additional time to reflect on what they have achieved as they prepare for the challenges and opportunities on the horizon.
