13th Annual President's Address to the Community

On April 26, 2019,  Monterey Peninsula College and the Monterey Peninsula College Foundation presented the 13th Annual President’s Address to the Community, featuring Dr. Walter Tribley, in a “State of the College” address highlighting the college’s successes and future plans in terms of; revenue generation through MPC's Office of Advancement, indicators of increased student success, and new initiatives aligned with the Chancellor's Office Vision for Success.

The program also included the presentation of the 2019 President’s Award to a much-loved active community volunteer and dedicated supporter of MPC, Lynn Davis.

A graduate of Pacific Grove High School (1959), Lynn attended Monterey Peninsula College from 1959-1962, and then transferred to San Jose State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.  Lynn spent his early career years working as Vice President of the Forest Hill Store in Pacific Grove (1962–1981). He then returned to college earning his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Monterey College of Law in 1984. Shortly after, he began working at Legal Services for Seniors, where he ultimately became Executive Director.

Over the years, Lynn’s vast volunteer service has included organizations such as Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, Kiwanis International, Pacific Grove (PG) Art Center, PG Chamber of Commerce, PG Community High School, and many others. Lynn Served as a member of the MPC Foundation Board of Directors from both 1999–2002 and 2012–2018, including Board President in 2002. In addition, he served on the MPC Board of Trustees from 2002–2010, and as the Monterey College of Law Board President and Interim Administrative Dean. Lynn and Lydia, his wife of 58 years, were inducted into the MPC Lobo Hall of Fame as Distinguished Alumni in recognition of their many accomplishments.

Lynn and Lydia have two daughters, Jani and Cindy, and a grandson, Xanti.
