We are always looking for student tutors and student front desk help. If you are interested in being part of the MLC team, please come by BMC103 to pick up an application.
The Monterey Campus MLC is located in BMC103 but is closed due to campus closure. Our services are available online. See the online tutoring schedule for current availability of tutors.
Welcome to the Math Learning Center (MLC)
To access the MLC online, please see this schedule of online tutors.
We offer free, drop-in tutoring to all MPC students taking a Mathematics class below Calculus. (Exception: We do provide tutoring for MA18, Calculus for Business.) Students taking Science classes that require math below calculus can also get help in the MLC. Students in the Physics 3 series, Calculus, and in Math classes above Calculus can get the help they need at the MPC STEM Cel Tutoring Center. The STEM Cel provides general tutoring for those courses and most other science classes. See the MPC STEM Cel webpage for more information.
Don't have a text book? No problem! We have textbooks and calculators that you can check out while in the MLC. You must have a valid photo ID in order to check these resources out. We also have computers and Chromebooks you can use.
The MLC will not be providing tutoring support for students at or above the Math 20A level. All students are welcome to use the study rooms in the MLC. Textbooks for these courses can be checked out for use in the MLC.
Who can use the MLC?
Anyone enrolled in a mathematics class or CTE class involving mathematics here at MPC can come for assistance in the Math Learning Center. The MLC is only available to help with your MPC courses. We do not offer tutoring for high school classes, classes for other colleges, prep for assessments, SAT's or other exams, etc.
How do you use the MLC?
Come in to the MLC and we will give you the forms necessary to register. You will fill out a referral form and register for MATH 440. This is for record keeping only and does not count for credit. You will then be added to the MLC system and receive a log in number. After that you are free to drop in during our hours of operation whenever you want for as long or as little as you want. You can sit and work on your homework and let one of the tutors know when you have a question or need assistance. Feel free to bring some friends from class and work together. Please remember to log in when you arrive and log out when you leave.
