Option 1:Associate in Science Transfer Degree (AS-T)

Complete Major Requirements, MPC General Education Pattern, Competency Requirements, and 60 degree-applicable units with a 2.0 or higher GPA.

Major Requirements = 26 UNITS (Grade of 'C' or better in each course)

  • ECED 1 Child Growth & Development (3) 
  • ECED 2 Observation and Assessment (3)
  • ECED 51 Prin. & Prac. of Teaching Children (3)
  • ECED 52 Practicum: Field Teaching Exp. (5)
  • ECED 55 Child, Family, and Community (3)
  • ECED 56 Early Childhood Ed. in a Diverse Soc. (3)
  • ECED 61 Health, Safety & Nutrition Child (3)
  • ECED 80 Curric. Planning & Environ. Design (3)

Option 2: Associate in Science Career Technical Degree (AS)

Complete Major Requirements noted above plus two program elective courses--pick 2 courses in a specific specialization for your elective courses (these specialization meet the California Child Development Permit Specialization for 6 units in one area):
  • Curriculum Specialization Electives
    • ECED 81, ECED 82, ECED 83, ECED 84
  • Infant/Toddler Specialization Electives
    • ECED 62, ECED 62A, ECED 62B 
  • Special Needs Specialization Electives
    • ECED 63, ECED 63A, ECED 63B
  • Working with Families Specialization
    • ECED 74, ECED 75
  • Guidance Specialization
    • ECED 40
MPC General Education Pattern, Competency Requirements, and 60 degree-applicable units with a 2.0 or higher GPA.

Major Requirements = 30-32 UNITS

Option 3: Certificate of Achievement (Career Technical)

Complete Major Requirements noted above plus two program elective courses; see specialization options above for elective courses.  No General Education Courses or Competency Requirements.
