About the instructor: Gary Shapiro has been an educator for 30 years and teaches Film Appreciation and Broadcast History at Monterey Peninsula College. A broadcaster for over four decades, he is the longtime host of From the Bookshelf, a radio program featuring interviews with authors and celebrities. From the Bookshelf is heard on radio station KSCO in Santa Cruz California.  Host Gary Shapiro brings you interviews with best selling authors of fiction and non-fiction, graphic novelists, actors, photographers, and singer-songwriters discussing their works. The show is produced  by Frances Venegas and Ollie Jackson.

Prep and cook under the supervision of a professional chef, then stay for dinner to enjoy the results of your work!

July 27: Tapas And Wine

You will investigate how to make summer presentations of many different tapas and the famous fruity Sangria wine and punches. You will create some original Spanish tapas, as well as creations using seafood, plantains, artichokes and more.

About the instructor: Chef Jorgé received his formal training at the Epicurean School of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles and holds a Master’s of Management from Cambridge College. Chef Jorgé’s love of food and entrepreneurial business have come together in one branded service: Chef Jorge’s Cocina and Garden Enterprises. Over the past 30 years he has been able to generate full marketing and management campaigns with focused branding and targeting via cookbooks, restaurants, catering, product development, television appearances, radio/television advertisements, and online. He is now sharing his love of food as an instructor and workshop leader in sustainable culinary arts at Monterey Peninsula College.

Modern Retirement Planning (ENRI 19-19 & 19-20)

Modern Retirement Planning (MRP) is a comprehensive workshop overview of the latest concepts and concerns for structuring a successful retirement plan. The information is presented in an unbiased, educational environment; no specific products or services will be discussed at this class, as MRP is designed only to provide important financial information. The goal of this 6-hour class is to familiarize participants with the concepts and terminology associated with the retirement planning process. The course will equip you with a better understanding of the building blocks of retirement planning as well as the options and strategies available to retire successfully.

This course is specifically designed for individuals who are approaching retirement or are already in retirement. Subjects include setting goals, identifying your nest egg sources, the effect of taxes and inflation on your savings, estate planning, types of investments, and many other retirement strategies. About the instructors:
 Trevin and Bart are affiliated educators with the non-profit organization, the Society For Financial Awareness (SOFA). They spend a great amount of their time educating the public, as well as their clients, on the topic of retirement planning, and know it to be one of the greatest needs within our society today! In addition to their multiple college degrees in Finance and Criminology, Trevin also holds a certification as a Retirement Income Certified Professional from The American College. As licensed securities and insurance professionals, they serve as partners of Central Coast Financial Management in Monterey.
