Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Monterey Peninsula College campuses have been closed until further notice. MPC classes and student support services will be offered fully online.

General Education is required of all students pursuing an associate degree at Monterey Peninsula College.  General education is also required for most majors at UC and CSU campuses.  A student’s major and/or transfer goal influences which of the three general education patterns below to follow.

For students pursuing a certificate of completion, certificate of training, or certificate of achievement, general education is not required.

For students planning to transfer to a four-year institution in a high-unit major such as biological science or engineering, completion of general education may not be required.  Contact the counseling department and schedule a counseling appointment for further discussion and advisement.
