Biography
Professor Brandi Kary is a mom, educator, poet, and athlete who has taught at Monterey Peninsula College for 19 years. She teaches in the English Department, leads the Creative Writing Program, and genuinely loves her students and the MPC community. Her poetry and fiction have appeared in several literary magazines, among other publications, and she regularly participates in readings and literary events.
Brandi has a lot of formal education, a bunch of degrees and certificates, including studying creative writing at the University of Cambridge in the UK, but none of that compares to what her students have taught her over the years. When she isn’t teaching or writing, Brandi likes to lift heavy things. She is a competitive powerlifter who holds state, national, and world records in the bench press and deadlift.
