Biography

Deanna began her dance training at age 7, attending the San Francisco, Pennsylvania, and Milwaukee Ballet Schools, the HARID Conservatory, the North Carolina School of the Arts, and the London Contemporary Dance School. Her professional performing career included residencies with choreographers Bill T. Jones and Mark Morris and extensive freelance work with San Francisco Bay Area modern dance companies.

Deanna has taught ballet, modern dance, and dance production at Monterey Peninsula College since 2005 and has been a faculty member at Hidden Valley Music Seminars since 2003, where she teaches movement classes to thousands of age 55+ Road Scholar students. Since 1998, she has choreographed a wide variety of dance concerts and musical theater productions. Deanna is one half of a songwriting and folk-pop performing duo, The Jinxes, alongside her husband Kevin. She is a lifelong lover of creativity and a huge believer in the power of movement and the arts to express complex emotions, convey shared human experiences, and bring diverse people together.
