Biography

I'm both an instructor in the Kinesiology Department and the Fitness Lab Coordinator with nearly 20 years of experience here at MPC. I teach KIN 51: Fitness and Wellness Strategies and KIN 60: Fitness Exercise Physiology, helping students build a strong foundation in fitness science.

My academic journey began at Scripps College, where I earned a degree in Human Biology. My undergraduate thesis focused on knee injuries in female athletes. I completed my graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!), earning a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology. My thesis research examined insulin responses to heavy weightlifting (80-90% of maximum) in women.

I’m a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). I've prescribed exercise programs for individuals managing various health conditions in both hospitals and fitness centers, providing clinical expertise to improve health outcomes. Additionally, I hold a certification as a Personal Trainer and I'm a Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). With a passion for fitness education, clinical exercise physiology, and injury prevention, I’m dedicated to helping students improve their overall health and wellness and help others.
