Biography

Juli has a passionate interest in growing resilient plants and creating healthy soils—key principles of sustainable horticulture. She worked in the residential waste diversion program of the Monterey Regional Waste Management District, including outreach as a member of the “Rot Squad” and teaching composting. She directed the Marina Goodwill Community Food Garden for many years. She has designed public demonstration gardens and serves as the president of the Marina Tree and Garden Club, inspiring the creation of a livable and sustainable community. Juli is a graduate of the MPC horticulture program. She has taught HORT 425 - Gardening Techniques for MPC for several years and this year we are lucky to have her teaching HORT 51 and 52, the courses that give students the knowledge base they need to successfully pursue further study in horticulture. In addition to her formal teaching she consults as a garden coach. She enjoys passing on her knowledge on the cultivation of useful plants, and working with regional soils and microclimates.
