Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Training Program

This training program is recognized by the Monterey County EMS Agency

The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certification Program is your first step toward becoming a life-saving first responder in emergency situations. Dates: June 12 - July 31, 2025 (Class does not meet on 6/19, 7/3, and 7/4)

Instructor Bio: Florentino Arellano has over 30 years experience as an EMS Provider Paramedic and currently teaches as an adjunct instructor in the EMT program at Monterey Peninsula College.

Phlebotomy Technician Training Program

Launch your healthcare career with our Phlebotomy Technician Training Program! In this hands-on course, you’ll learn the essential skills needed to collect blood samples safely and efficiently. From mastering proper venipuncture techniques to understanding lab procedures and patient care, you'll be prepared for real-world challenges in clinical settings. With expert instruction and practical experience, this program will equip you with the confidence and skills to succeed as a certified phlebotomist. The Phlebotomy Technician Training program is an accelerated training course designed to combine classroom instruction with hands-on training in a medical laboratory to help you develop the highly technical skill of blood withdrawal. 

What is included in the program:

• 84 hours of instruction
• 5 hours of CPR training
• Externship opportunity

Upon successful completion of the classroom training, students will take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam and be required to pass a drug and background screen prior to being placed in the externship portion of the program.Externship information:

• Students must complete a 40 hour externship.
• Externships are scheduled for one week, Monday-Friday (no nights or weekends).
• Students will need to be available from 5 a.m. - 6 p.m. for that week only (specific schedule timeframe is determined by each externship site).

Once a student has successfully completed all program requirements, they are eligible to apply for the State of California CPT-1 License.

• Must be 18 years or older;
• Students must have a high school diploma or a GED (to be provided at second class meeting);
• Must attend an informational session prior to registration (see list of available sessions below);
• Must place a $600 dollar deposit at the time of registration

Refund & Credit Policy:

The MPC Continuing and Professional Education program reserves the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment. Students in classes that are cancelled by Continuing and Professional Education will be offered a full refund or a credit to their registration account.

Refund Policy for Professional Training/Healthcare Training Classes:

Refund requests will be honored if they are received at least 14 business days prior to the beginning of the class. There is a 10% service fee, subject to a $5 minimum. Students who withdraw after the first class meeting are no longer eligible for a refund, however students may request a credit that may be applied to a future class offering. *Please note, refunds and credits are not granted if a student has failed or was dropped from a training program for failure to meet program requirements.
